Message from Pastor Mike

Dear Community Church,

I have to say, last week was a lot of fun here at Community Church. The Chapel was full for our first Wednesday Night Program. It was great to see families come together to learn and grow as a church. We launched Project Next Generation on Sunday. There is quite a bit of excitement and optimism as we wait on the Lord as this new chapter in our church is beginning to unfold. We finished with an awesome baptism as 5 people from our church stepped into the lake to demonstrate their faith in Jesus. That was an awesome week!

Our Wednesday night gather will happen again tomorrow night. We all start together at 6:30 pm in the Chapel. Dinner is available at 6 pm $4 for adults and free for kids.
This week in church we are covering chapter 16:16-31 of Luke’s gospel. Read ahead and be more prepared!

Project Next Generation: Please make sure to sign-up with Mickey Skinner for one of the days during our 40 days of Prayer and Fasting. Make sure you have October 2-3 (24- hours of prayer) on your calendar. Be praying about what God is asking you to do in response to this opportunity. Remember, buying Scrip and recycling are ways that we can all help!

Our prayer team is moving their weekly meeting to Monday nights from 6 pm to 7 pm in the conference room upstairs directly above Donna’s office. Come and join in.

Standing Firm,

This Week at Community Church

Dear Community Church,

This week were are finishing our two-part series “Lost Things”. Read Luke 15:11-32. It is a very well-known story and a favorite of mine!

We expect Donna back in the office later this week. Please make sure to remember to stay away if you are sick. She has had a rough week, but appreciates your prayers. Thanks to Barbara, Penny, and Spencer for carrying the ball while she has been out.

Community Church – Wednesday Night starts next week on September 9th. Our program is from 6:30-8 pm and starts off in the Chapel with worship. We will also have a light dinner available at 6 pm for $4 for adults and free for kids. There is something for everyone on Wednesday night … so come!

Baptism is coming up after church on Sept. 13th. If you have been thinking about it email me back or call at 951.243.4166. Better do it soon. It’s gonna be awful cold in December!

We are kicking off Project Next Generation on September 13th. This is an important day in our church history. I want to encourage all of you to try and be here on that day!

Standing Firm,

Pastor Mike

Community Church this Week

Dear Community Church Family,
Yesterday’s fire is a great reminder that we never know what a day is going to bring. I think all of us are thanking God for the great response and incredible competency of the fire fighters that kept this from becoming a local tragedy!
Please remember Donna in your prayers this week. This entire week following her treatment is very difficult so please take some time to pray for her. Pray that God would heal her through this trial and also give her strength and divine comfort.
This week we are starting a 2-part series called “Lost Things”. I will be teaching from Luke chapter 15. This is one of my favorite chapters in the Bible.
A quick reminder to get in touch with me if you are interested in being baptized after church on September 13th.
Our Community Church – Wednesday Night programs are starting on September 9th. Dinner will be available in the chapel at 6 pm and our program will go from 6:30- 8:00 pm. I will be talking about it in the coming weeks.
Finally, Project Next Generation, our campaign to retire our church mortgage debt is starting Sunday September 13th. The prayer request flier that was in the bulletin last weekend is part of this effort. We will have this in the bulletin again over the next couple of weeks. Please fill these out to let us know what your heartfelt prayer needs are. I am excited about what God is going to do in our church through this experience!
God’s peace and blessings to you and yours!

Pastor Mike

This Week at Community Church

Dear Community Church,

Pam and I feel very fortunate to be up here with you in these beautiful mountains while the rest of Southern California is sweltering in triple digit heat. I hope you all feel equally blessed!

The week we are going to be looking at Luke 14 with a message titled simply “The Cost”. I always encourage you to read ahead to be more prepared to hear from God.

Next month on Sunday September 13th we are going to be kicking off our debt retirement campaign called Project Next Generation. I think it is going to be exciting to see what God does to put the burden of debt behind our church for good. Please be praying for me and the leaders of our church as we prepare for this effort.

On that same Sunday (Sept. 13) we are going to have a baptism after church. If you have never been baptized as a follower of Jesus please schedule a time to talk to me about baptism.

Finally, September 9th marks the beginning of our Community Church Wednesday Nights. Our program will start with worship in our Historic Chapel at 6:30 pm and then we will split up into our various groups from there. I will be talking about the specific groups in the next couple of weeks. We will also be offering a light dinner in the Fireside Room starting at 6:00 pm. My primary goal for our Wednesday night program is to grow our relationships within our church family.

I look forward to seeing your smiling faces soon!

Standing Firm,

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

I with my husband, Roger, moved to Big Bear about 6 years ago and now he pastors Big Bear Presbyterian and I serve as Worship Director. I also teach private piano lessons. In these past few years I’ve run into many people who have said they miss singing in a choir, whether at church or school. That’s when I began thinking about having a community-wide choir to share a great musical work that so many people know and loveā€¦Handel’s Messiah. After sharing this vision with Diane Kubeja and Barbara King who shared it with the Arts Council, they agreed to sponsor this Messiah Sing-a-Long for December 12 at 2PM at the PAC!

I’m excited to invite who loves to sing, has sung in a choir or would like to join in this new venture. Anyone in your fellowship is invited to attend the Messiah Sing-a-Long as an audience participant ($10 admission) or be part of the presenting choir. The choir is non-audition so all are welcome. We will be rehearsing on Tuesday evenings at Big Bear Presbyterian Church, 579 Knickerbocker, Big Bear Lake. We will be starting rehearsals on Tuesday, September 8, 7-9 PM and rehearsing once a week until the event. (Taking the October school break)

You’ll find 2 attachments to this e-mail; one that can be printed as a poster and the other for use as bulletin insert. May I suggest using the inserts a week or two before we begin rehearsals on September 8? I would appreciate it so much. I hope to come by many of your churches this week with a poster and answer any questions you may have. I would so appreciate your helping me get the word out!

In Him,
Glenda Beukelman
