Dear Community Church,
I’d like to start by thanking the many women that worked so hard to make our “Loving Well” Retreat such a success. I have talked about the importance of providing opportunities for our church to connect. To go beyond the surface small-talk and really begin to get a sense of the real issues, challenges, and joys that make up our individual lives. I think last weekend was a good step forward for us in that regard. Thanks again ladies!
Wednesday Night-Community Church
Our Wednesday Night program is specifically targeting this same issue of connecting as a body. We only have two more meetings until we break for the holiday, and we won’t resume until mid-January. So come out tomorrow night! We will be off on Thanksgiving week. And then our final Wednesday Night meeting will be on December 2nd. We will be doing a holiday potluck on that night. Let’s finish strong. Come to these final two meetings if you can.
This Saturday at 9 am we put together all of the shoe boxes that are going all around the world. You can drop off items at the office throughout the week or bring them on Saturday. If you would like to help with packing the boxes this weekend it will be in the Fireside Room.
We are also having a workday this Saturday. We will be raking and weed eating. We will start at 8 am and be done by 10. Bring a rake and some gloves. Many hands make light work.
Other events this week:
Adult Sunday School Class – 8:45 am Mary Johnson Center
Saturday Morning Bacon and Bible breakfast study – 7:00 am Worship Center
Monday Night Prayer Meeting – 6 pm Upstairs Conference Room
Sunday Evening Young Adults Meeting – 7 pm Upstairs Conference Room
Our message this coming Sunday is called “Well Done”. The text is Luke 19:11-29. God bless you all this week. Be the church out there everyday!
Community Church Family,
This week we are covering Luke 18:31-19:10. I love this section of scripture. I told Pam this morning I could teach this passage every week! But, don’t worry, I won’t. Read ahead and prepare to hear from God when we read it together on Sunday. Also, remember this weekend is a good message for friends and people that you are praying for!
Tomorrow night is Community Church Wednesday Night. I will be teaching Class 3 of First Steps in my office, and my dear friend, Stan Kaye, will be teaching the men. Men, I guarantee that you will love Stan! For those of you that are advance planners, there will be no Wednesday Night programs on November 25th, the day before Thanksgiving.
Christmas Shoe Boxes:
A quick reminder about Samaritan’s Purse Shoebox program. We will be packing them up to ship on Saturday, November 21st, 9am-noon in the Chapel.
We are having a workday to clean up our church property also on Saturday, November 21st, from8 am until 10 am. Bring rakes and we could use a couple of guys on weed eaters. This is subject to the weather being OK.
David and Becky Thompson
David and Becky Thompson are lif- long Alliance missionaries. They have an awesome story and are great at telling it. We are blessed to have them in Big Bear to share with us on the evening ofNovember 30th at 6:30pm in the Fireside Room. We will be providing hot drinks and dessert. I promise that you will be glad you came. These two never fail to inspire and bless!
Scrip and Recycle
We are doing great. Let’s keep going with Scrip and recycling cans and water bottles. It is making a difference. Keep it up!
Thanks for being such an awesome church. Pam and I love being a part of what God is doing here!
Dear Community Church,
Pam and I are nearing the end of our visit of CMA field works in Germany and Spain. It’s always inspirational to be with people that are on the front lines, sharing the gospel in difficult places. At first blush, Europe may not sound difficult. And while it is beautiful … It is also very hard, especially as we are finishing up in a large Muslim community. I look forward to sharing about this with all of you when I come back.
The reason for this second email is, to remind you about our 24 hour of prayer event on Friday and Saturday. Our church is poised to do something special. We are all a part of it. I would like each of you to make it a priority to come by the church for an hour during this time (6 pm Friday until 6 pm Saturday). God’s Word says that we are all part of divine battle that takes place in the spiritual realm. The prayer of his people is strong and able to demolish strongholds. This weekend is an important moment in our journey together, as we break through barriers corporately, personally, and push our message forward among people that are living close to us … But far from God. Don’t miss out on it. I know there are lots of other demands on your time, but this is truly an all hands on deck moment in our church!
I look forward to seeing you all soon.
Dear Community Church,
I wanted to remind you that we kicked off our 40 Days of Prayer and Fasting last Sunday. I am asking everyone to make an effort to pray more during this time. Specifically, I would like us to be praying for God’s kingdom to advance in our sphere of influence, as a church and as individuals. Jesus said that if we seek his kingdom first all of the other things that we need will follow (Matt 6:33). So pray for people that you know that need to meet him. Pray for strength to overcome behaviors and attitudes that will draw you closer to God. Please consider fasting as you are able as well. If you have not signed up with Mickey Skinner for a specific day you can do that tonight or this weekend.
Please put our 24-hour of prayer event on October 2-3 on your calendar. I am excited to see how God is going to use this time of renewed focus to change our church!
