Dear Community Church,
The Critel’s let us know that they arrived safely in Costa Rica yesterday. They are excited to see how God uses them in the coming week. Let’s all remember to pray for them, and their relationships at the orphange they are working with.
This week we are back in the book of Daniel. I will be doing two final messages from Daniel 9. Read ahead!
Tomorrow night we are starting a new study series in the men’s and women’s groups. It is a great time to start if you have been thinking about coming but haven’t gotten around to it yet.
We are dedicating babies on February 21st. If you have a baby or young child you would like to have dedicated on this Sunday, please call the church office to set up an appointment with me.
The Saturday morning men’s Bacon and Bible study is going strong. Men, we have a place for you Saturday morning at 7 am!
Dear Community Church Family,
It is a good time to look back at the year that is almost past. For some it has been a year of challenges and loss. Others have experienced great victories and joy. Many of us have had some of each. I would say that as a church it has been a great year! A year where God has really shown up and answered our prayers and provided for our needs. Along those lines, we have an exciting announcement to make at church this week. Please come to church on time. We will begin with “the announcement” before the first song and I don’t want you to miss it.
I know that many of us have been praying for the fire victims this week. I am happy to tell you that we raised $1800 in our benevolence offering last weekend. We will be distributing it to our two neighbor/families.
This weeks message is called “The Dream” and is from Daniel 2. Read it before you come to church on Sunday!
Dear Community Church,
A friend of mine from Montana told me that the secret to living in a cold place is to “Embrace the Winter”. Pam and I are embracing the winter weather, even though winter doesn’t even officially start until next week!
I hope you have been enjoying our Christmas series as we have looked at the Advent themes of Hope and Love. This week we are looking at Joy, and the incredible joy that people experienced as Jesus was born into this world. Please remember to invite your friends. Lots of people would like to get an invitation to church at Christmas time. Remember our Christmas Eve service is at 6 pm.
We are hosting the Big Bear Theater Project production of Christmas Carol Askew in our Historic Chapel on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday at 7:30 pm, and for a final matinee show at 2 pm on Sunday. Simply Voices accapella group will be performing Christmas music next week on Tuesday and Wednesday at 7 pm. Tickets for all shows are $10 for adults and $5 for children and seniors and are available at the church office or No Name Pizza.
Finally, I want to mention that we have food and gift cards for people in our church and in our community that need help with Christmas. Please call Donna if you could use this kind of help, or if you know someone that is struggling that you would like to help. Again, let Donna know and we will try and respond.
Dear Community Church,
Please make sure and invite friends and neighbors to church at Christmas time. People will be blessed to come and see the beautiful decorations (we have more new stuff for this weekend). Sometimes we are afraid of offending people if we invite them to church. But, most people are actually happy to be invited and you might be surprised by how many will actually say yes. Don’t forget we have a Christmas Eve service at 6 pm.
I don’t know about you, but I am not even used to writing 2015 yet and we are almost to a new year. We are going to take a look back at this year in my message on December 27th, but I have to say it has been an eventful year, with lots to celebrate. Our facility has been given a major facelift, we are supporting global outreach through our partnership with the Tornas and the Leonards, we have a youth group and a growing children’s program. This was also the year that we embarked on Project Next Generation. My mailbox is full of “end of the year” requests from non-profits, and I am sure yours is too. But, I would be remiss if I didn’t highlight the church as a great spot to make an end of the year donation. I announced last weekend that our balance remaining to be debt free is now $49K! Let me say that I am blown away by the generosity of this church and the tremendous progress we have made in righting our financial situation. This is truely an investment in the next generation of ministry here in Big Bear, our region, and the world. Thank you for your faithfulness, your sacrifice, and your generosity. Pam and I feel completely blessed to be here for what God is doing at Community Church.
Holiday Meal this Sunday – We are putting on a holiday meal in partnership with the Mom and Dad Project. This hearty meal is for people that don’t have the means to cook their own holiday meal. Food will be served in the Mary Johnson Center after our 2nd Service. Time is 12:30 to 2:30 pm. We are also looking for people that would like to help prepare food on Sunday morning. If you are available please call Nikki McGivney @878-2326.

Simply Voices will be performing on the 22nd and 23rd in the Historic Chapel @ 7 pm. Get your tickets at the church office or at No Name Pizza. $10 Adults, $5 Children/Seniors.
